Geosynthetic Testing Laboratory Manual provides a comprehensive and practical introduction to the laboratory characterization of geosynthetic materials used in geotechnical, transportation, environmental, and hydraulic engineering applications. The book covers a wide range of geosynthetic products, including geotextiles, geogrids, geomembranes, geonets, and geocomposites, and presents standardized testing procedures for evaluating their physical, mechanical, hydraulic, and durability properties. Each test is explained with its underlying principles, required apparatus, specimen preparation methods, experimental procedures, and relevant international standards such as ASTM, ISO, and BIS, enabling readers to understand both the theoretical and practical aspects of geosynthetic testing. Designed to support undergraduate and postgraduate laboratory courses, this manual serves as a valuable resource for students, researchers, laboratory personnel, and practicing engineers. Detailed calculations, data analysis procedures, result
interpretation, and illustrative example problems facilitate the effective application of laboratory findings to engineering practice. Written in a clear and systematic manner,
the book simplifies complex testing procedures. By bridging fundamental concepts with practical laboratory applications, this manual provides an essential reference for
geosynthetic testing, quality control, and engineering applications.

Dr. Baadiga Ramu is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore. With over four years of academic and research experience, Dr. Ramu’s expertise spans Geosynthetic Engineering, Pavement Geotechnics, Ground Improvement, AIML applications in Geotechnical Engineering, Nature-Inspired Geotechnics, and allied areas. He is a life member of several professional bodies, including the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS), the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), the Indian Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society, the Indian Roads Congress (IRC), and the Institution
of Engineers (India).

Bodhanam S Praveen and Polisetti Sai Meghana are Doctoral Research Scholars in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Indore. Their research focuses on sustainable pavement materials and geosynthetic-reinforced flexible pavements. Both authors are actively engaged in experimental and analytical investigations integrating advanced material characterization with environmental impact assessment for next-generation infrastructure.

Anurag Sinha, Anuj Pal, and Kankipati Sai Sumanth are undergraduate scholars at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore with a keen interest in geosynthetics and geotechnical materials. As co-authors of this book, they have made significant contributions to the preparation of technical content and the refinement of the laboratory procedures presented in this manual. Their collective enthusiasm and attention to detail have added valuable academic
