The environment plays an important role for all the living beings on earth. It maintains the ecological balance of our earth by providing various natural resources such as land, air, water etc. But there are some burning issues that are causing degradation of the environment. These issues may be natural or anthropogenic which lead to collapse of the ecosystems. So, deep understanding of those issues such as population growth, energy resource crisis, air, water and soil pollution, global warming and climate change, behavioural issues of society regarding management of resources and waste etc is utmost necessary for the students, industrialists, NGOs and faculties. With this aim, we have highlighted those issues and their probable solutions in a compact book form. This book presents an overview on ongoing environmental challenges-their concepts, effects and probable management strategies at local, regional and national level. It has special features like summary of key facts, tables, line figures and critical thinking questions for the students to clear their concepts, case studies, differences between key terms, tables, graphs etc. In a nutshell, it is a textbook or guidebook for the undergraduate and post graduate programmes of state and central universities. Some keywords used in the book for catalogue indexing are sustainability, ecological footprint, air quality index and so on. It is authored by environmental faculties with ten years of teaching experiences in the field. Readers will be better equipped to understand and address the environmental challenges we face today. This book raises awareness and encourages necessary actions to protect the environment. The key areas of focus are as follows:
1. Climate Change: Detailed analysis of causes, impacts, and mitigation strategies.
2. Biodiversity Conservation: Insights into the importance of biodiversity and measures to protect it.
3. Air Pollution Control: Examination of different types of air pollution and effective control measures.
4. Renewable Energy: Exploration of renewable energy sources and their role in reducing carbon footprint.
