Following the National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020, the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh state have designed syllabi for various courses to be taught in all universities and colleges of Uttar Pradesh. One of the papers for B.Sc. students is Thermal Physics & Semiconductor Devices. This book is for teaching this particular paper. Here we have discussed Zeroth & First Laws of Thermodynamics, Second & Third Law of Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Theory of Radiation, DC & AC Circuits, Semiconductors & Diodes, Transistors and Electrical/Electronic Instrumentation.
 

Prof. Suresh Chandra is Deputy Director & Professor at Amity Center for Astronomy & Astrophysics, AIAS, Amity University, Noida. Earlier he was Director, School of Physical Sciences, SRTM University, Nanded (Maharashtra) and Director, School of Physical Sciences, and Dean of Students in SMVD University, Katra (J&K). He obtained his M.Sc. (Physics) (1972) and Ph.D. (1977) from Meerut University, Meerut. He is Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society (London), Fellow of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences (Pune), Associate Member of the Third World Academy of Sciences (Italy), Fellow of the AvH Foundation (Germany), Life Member of the International Astronomical Union and Life Member of several other national academic bodies. He visited Germany as AvH Foundation Fellow and then was in Germany as the Visiting Scientist for four and half years. Later on, he visited Germany several times under Bilateral Scientific Exchange program between INSA, New Delhi and DFG, Germany, and under the revisit program of AvH Foundation (Germany), and visited USSR. (now called, Russia) as the Guest of the USSR Academy of Sciences for six months.

He has published 180 research papers in the journals of international repute and has written 20 books, 32 scientific articles. He has completed successfully 16 research projects funded by various agencies in India. Eleven students have been awarded Ph.D. degree, and Two students have been awarded M.Phil. (Physics) under his supervision. Work of one Ph.D. student is in progress. He has 48 years experience of teaching and research in the universities in India as well as abroad.

Dr. Mohit Kumar Sharma has been National Postdoctoral Fellow of SERB, DST, New Delhi from May 2017 to April 2019. He worked as Asstt. Prof. in ITM University, Gwalior, M.P. and SunderDeep Group of Institutions, Dasna, Ghaziabad, U.P., India. He visited Tokyo University, Japan in January 2018 and Germany in Nov & Dec 2018 under DAAD fellowship of Germany. He received Young Scientist Award (2014) of ISCA, Kolkata. He did Ph.D. (Physics) from Jiwaji University, Gwalior. He is coauthor of 15 textbooks and has published 60 research papers in the journals of international repute. He has been Visiting Associate of IUCAA, Pune for 3 years, from 01 August 2017. He is life member of several academic bodies.

Dr. Amit Kumar is Asst. Prof. in Physics at GITAM University, Hyderabad, for last over 12 years. He got PhD at SRTM University, Nanded (Maharashtra) and MSc from CCS University, Meerut (U.P.).He published 2 research articles in international journal and participated in ten international/national conferences. He is life member of ASI.
